Honduras

As I hear the roar of the engine and get butterfly’s in my stomach,i knew we were officially off to Honduras.

Seven members from my church went on the trip;

Mr.Quintin,Mrs.Chrissa and her son Dallas,Mrs.Kathy and her son Dawson,my mom and me.
    After our two and a half hour plane ride,we arrived safely in Honduras. It was intimidating walking through the airport. First everyone spoke Spanish! Secondly everyone was staring at us because we were different.
    After getting settled on he bus we enjoyed a three hour bus ride up the steep,rocky mountains. The view was a beautiful site to see,however the houses were made of mud or concrete and trash was every where. there were cows and chickens randomly by the road,even a one legged chicken.
    we arrived in Santa Rosa and settled in our hotel. our hotel was an opened area with live turtles that roamed the hotel.

The swimming pool was on the roof!

Monday morning the first school to visit was El Rosario.It wasn’t all that big but at least they had a play ground.The students worked hard with what they had. The schools toilets didn’t flush they used buckets to pour the water in and the kids stayed late to clean the class rooms.

The second school was Los Angeles. The children were very sweet. They enjoyed our company and asked us a lot of questions.

The third and poorest school was Las Crucitas. There was only two rooms in the school to hold k-sixth. It was very crowded,and the building was in poor condition. The third through sixth grade room was one concrete wall and two walls with wooden slates and a tin roof! and mud and dirt as a floor.

The last school was Yarishin.The students seamed less motivated to attend school.I was shocked when I saw kids running in the streets with ripped clothes and not dressed for school.

I’ve learned to appreciate what I have because the kids there have nothing like we do,but what ever they do have they use it to the fullest and are full of joy and life.
